Filming Guidelines
Production Types
Large productions and features will require more from both Reel Film Locations and the local authority, and will probably require site meetings to resolve detailed requests.
Reel Film Locations will charge for administration time both for recces and processing requests through the Borough departments.
Smaller TV shoots with straightforward requests, for example shooting 'vox pops' in the street, or requiring simple access to a location, will not usually incur a fee even though it may require a site visit from one of our Film Officers.
More complex requests and time-consuming consultations will be charged on an hourly basis.
For cross-borough film shoots with crew of ten or less filming on hand-held camera and/or tripod, please contact Film London on 020 7613 7676.
Student productions and non-commercial productions will be assisted as far as possible in the spirit of encouraging students and people learning the craft of film and TV production. Wherever possible we provide our services free of charge and will only make charges for locations where running costs have to be covered.
We ensure that when any filming in a public place is proposed, a full Health & Safety Risk Assessment is carried out. Site meetings take place to ensure that our Film Officers are fully appraised of the intended action and proposed methods of shooting.
